Say hello to our SEO expert Dave.
Hey, Dave! Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. What were you up to before this interview?
I’ve literally just finished auditing a client’s backlink profile for quality, and before that I was putting together some notes on Schema for accountants — geeky SEO stuff.
That sounds both interesting and complicated, what’s your official title here at PracticeWEB?
What do you do?
Throughout the country, individuals and businesses — large and small — are looking for help with different accounting services and sectors. Many turn to Google.
My job is to use search engine optimisation (SEO) to help our clients get more, and better targeted, traffic from Google, specifically from the unpaid (‘organic’ or ‘natural’) listings.
What were you doing before you worked here?
I’ve worked in SEO for a little over a decade now, mainly in-house in a range of industries from e-commerce to renewable energy. I thought it was time I worked in an agency, where I get to help many more websites, so here I am. 🙂
Can you describe yourself in three words?
Creative, analytical, caffeinated.
Haha, so true! What do you enjoy the most about working at PracticeWEB?
Two things, equally, if I may? Firstly, the people I get to work with, who I find to be both talented and receptive.
I say “receptive” because SEO can often be seen as being critical of others’ work, as it is about refining words, design and technical performance to improve a website’s chances of outranking the competition. But everyone I have met here just wants to do great work, and are really keen to collaborate.
Professionally, I’m finding it to be a breath of fresh air working here. And also our clients, who are a joy to talk to and who are proving to be really engaged with my work for them.
Lastly, can you tell me what’s the weirdest thing on your desk at the moment?
The weirdest thing is probably the absence of anything weird — for now. In the past I’ve shared my desk space with a home-made aluminium rocket, wind-up teeth and a miniature trebuchet. As I’ve only been here a few months, watch this space.
Fantastic. Thanks, Dave!
